Fram designed an interesting valve which permits one to change the oil without a mess. If you look at Fram's web site you can find a Sure Drain for many vehicles. I found the Sure Drain valve at my local Wal-Mart. The Sport Trac takes the SD2 which has threads designed to replace the current oil pan plug.
Start by removing the existing oil pan
plug. Insert the Sure Drain valve and
tighten with a 7/8” socket.
Here’s the valve
installed in the oil pan.
Here’s the valve with the protective cover
screwed on.
Here’s the cover
removed.
To drain the oil, screw in the supplied
hose. It has a metal loop inside which
will release the valve.
No more mess, just allow the oil to flow
into an empty container.
